The Federal Government has begun recruitment into the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, opening applications for qualified Nigerians to fill vacancies across the Superintendent, Inspectorate and Assistant cadres.
The recruitment, which opened on July 28, 2026, will close on August 10, 2026, with shortlisted candidates expected to proceed to computer-based tests and interviews later in August.
According to the Federal Character Commission on X on Wednesday, applications are free and must be completed online through the official recruitment portal.
How to apply
Interested applicants are required to:
√ Visit the official recruitment portal at https://recruitment.naqs.gov.ng.
• Create an account or log in to the portal.
• Select their preferred cadre and position.
• Complete the online application form with accurate personal and educational information.
• Upload all required credentials and supporting documents.
• Review the application before submitting it online.
The agency warned that applications submitted after the deadline or those that fail to comply with the stipulated procedure will not be considered.
Available positions
Vacancies are available in three categories.
Under the Superintendent Cadre, the agency is recruiting:
• Chief Superintendent of Quarantine Care (Veterinary Doctors)
• Deputy Superintendent of Quarantine
• Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II
For the Inspectorate Cadre, applications are invited for:
• Inspector of Quarantine I
• Inspector of Quarantine II
• Inspector of Quarantine III
Under the Assistant Cadre, vacancies exist for:
• Quarantine Assistant I
• Quarantine Assistant II
• Quarantine Assistant III.
Educational qualifications
Applicants for the Chief Superintendent position must possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Candidates applying for the Deputy Superintendent position are required to possess a degree in Law or a master’s degree in another relevant discipline, alongside an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Assistant Superintendent applicants must possess a minimum of a first degree from a recognised institution and an NYSC discharge certificate.
Inspectorate Cadre applicants must hold an Ordinary National Diploma or Nigeria Certificate in Education, while applicants for the Assistant Cadre must possess SSCE, NECO or GCE Ordinary Level with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
General requirements
The agency said applicants must:
• Be Nigerian by birth.
• Possess a National Identification Number.
• Be medically fit and present a certificate of fitness from a government hospital.
• Pass a drug test.
• Be of good character with no criminal conviction.
• Not belong to any secret cult or society.
• Be free from financial embarrassment.
• Be computer literate.
Male applicants must have a minimum height of 1.65 metres and a chest measurement of at least 0.87 metres, while female applicants must be at least 1.55 metres tall.
The agency also advised that applicants with certain physical deformities or medical conditions, including severe speech impairment, hearing impairment, total blindness, obesity and limb deformities, need not apply.
Pregnant women were equally advised not to apply because of the physical demands of the recruitment exercise.
Recruitment timetable
According to the notice:
• Application opens: July 28, 2026
• Application closes: August 10, 2026
• Shortlisting of successful candidates: August 13, 2026
• Computer-Based Test and interviews: August 15, 2026.
The agency urged applicants to rely only on its official recruitment portal for information and warned members of the public not to pay anyone for employment, stressing that the exercise is completely free.
