Nollywood veteran Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has addressed the persistent rumors of a professional feud between herself and fellow actress Genevieve Nnaji, clarifying the nature of their relationship. Speaking on the perceived rivalry that has followed both actresses for decades, Omotola emphasized that while they are colleagues in the film industry, they do not maintain a close personal friendship.

”We don’t have to be best friends,” the actress stated, effectively downplaying the narrative of a deep-seated animosity that has long been a topic of discussion among fans and the media. Her comments suggest a professional respect exists between the two icons, despite the competitive atmosphere often fostered by the public.

In addition to clarifying her relationship with Nnaji, Omotola spoke on her professional boundaries and the changing landscape of film promotion. Regarding the modern trend of actors using social media challenges to boost projects, she asserted her stance on authenticity, stating, “I won’t ’forcefully’ dance to promote a film.”

The clarification comes amid a busy news cycle in the Nigerian entertainment and political space. Other reports today include reactions to Davido’s performance at the 2026 Grammys and comments from socialite Cubana Chief Priest regarding his political alignment. Additionally, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced a transition in their communication strategy, officially disbanding the use of the “Emma Powerful” pseudonym for press releases.
