Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has addressed ongoing public curiosity surrounding the personal life of his late colleague, Alexx Ekubo, confirming in an interview that the actor was married before his death but chose to keep his marital life private.
Uchemba made the clarification while speaking during a media appearance where he was repeatedly questioned about Ekubo’s relationship status and whether he had children. The actor, however, resisted pressure from the hosts, insisting that such sensitive details should be handled by Ekubo’s immediate family rather than friends.
According to him, Alexx Ekubo had intentionally preferred to keep his marriage out of the public eye, and that wish should be respected. He explained, “I don’t think it’s in my place to say, because Alex didn’t want it out there. I think if anything would come out of that, it would come out from his family. I think he wanted it that way.”
Uchemba also declined to confirm or deny further questions about possible children, reiterating that only what has been officially released by the family should be accepted as accurate.
His comments came amid ongoing speculation on social media following the actor’s reported passing at Evercare Hospital after a battle with metastatic kidney cancer, which has triggered widespread tributes and renewed interest in his private life.
Many fans praised Uchemba for maintaining loyalty and respecting his friend’s privacy, especially as he faced persistent questioning from interviewers. Online reactions also criticized the media pressure placed on him, with some users insisting that such matters should not be disclosed without family consent.
Uchemba’s remarks ultimately reinforced the late actor’s desire for privacy, leaving any further details about his personal life to be revealed only by his family, if they choose to do so.
