Abuja recently hosted a major Martial Arts Cultural Exchange with China as part of activities marking the “Year of the Horse,” underscoring the growing use of cultural engagement as a tool for international diplomacy.
The event brought together martial arts practitioners, cultural performers, and diplomatic representatives from both countries in a display of traditional Chinese and Nigerian heritage. Demonstrations, exhibitions, and interactive sessions were held to promote mutual understanding and cultural appreciation.
Officials noted that the exchange reflects deepening bilateral relations between Nigeria and China, with culture increasingly playing a central role in strengthening ties beyond trade and infrastructure cooperation.
Participants highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering people-to-people connections, particularly among young people, while also promoting tourism, education, and cultural awareness.
The programme is part of broader efforts by both countries to leverage cultural diplomacy as a means of building long-term partnerships and enhancing global engagement.
