The Federal Government has released the 2026/2027 admission list for candidates offered places in Junior Secondary School One (JSS1) of Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria, the Ministry of Education announced Monday.
The ministry said in a statement posted on its official social media platform that parents and guardians can now check the admission status of their children and wards and print their admission slips ahead of the next stage of the process.
The announcement follows the release of the results of the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), which serves as the entry examination for JSS1 admission into the Federal Unity Colleges.
The Federal Government released the 2026 NCEE results in July, with 60,357 candidates registered for the examination and 56,950 sitting for it across Nigeria, the Federal Capital Territory and designated centres in Benin and Togo.
Ten candidates emerged as the highest scorers with 202 marks out of a possible 210, while 82 candidates recorded the lowest score of one mark, according to the government.
The admission process is based on three approved criteria: 60 per cent merit, 30 per cent equality of states and 10 per cent exigency.
The ministry said successful candidates should print their admission slips and report to the Federal Unity College indicated on their slips for confirmation and completion of the admission process.
Candidates and their parents can check their placement through the Federal Ministry of Education’s FME Posting Portal.
The admission exercise also follows the federal government’s move to automate placement into Federal Unity Colleges.
In 2025, the Education Ministry announced that admissions into the colleges had been fully automated, with placements to be conducted within the approved capacity of each school. The government said the reform was designed to improve transparency, efficiency and capacity management while addressing overcrowding.
The Federal Ministry of Education operates Federal Unity Colleges across the country, including Federal Government Colleges, Federal Government Girls’ Colleges, Federal Science Colleges and Federal Science and Technical Colleges.
The ministry advised parents and guardians to check admission status promptly and ensure that successful candidates comply with the reporting and documentation requirements of their respective colleges.
