Abike Dabiri-Erewa acting debut in Netflix’s Aníkúlápó marks a notable crossover between public service and entertainment.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has made her acting debut in the newly released Netflix fantasy series Aníkúlápó: The Ghoul Awakens
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, the series features Dabiri-Erewa in a cameo role as the Iyalode, a revered female authority figure who brokers peace between rival communities.
The appearance adds a symbolic layer of leadership and diplomacy to the series’ epic narrative.
Dabiri-Erewa shared a short clip from the series on X (formerly Twitter), describing her role as “brief but significant” and praising the production as a “legendary” project.
She encouraged viewers to stream the series, which premiered on Netflix on January 30, 2026.
The acting debut marks an unexpected crossover between public service and entertainment for Dabiri-Erewa.
Her casting was revealed in mid-January 2026 alongside other notable additions, including Portuguese actor Pedro Teixeira and Nigerian media personality Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as KieKie.
The series has further cemented Afolayan’s reputation for visually striking storytelling rooted in Nigerian culture.
