UK-based Nigerian DJ DJ Izzy has unveiled a new educational initiative aimed at empowering young creatives between the ages of 10 and 16 with skills in artificial intelligence-assisted music production. The program is designed to bridge traditional DJ artistry with modern digital tools, helping participants understand how emerging technologies are reshaping the global music industry.
The initiative focuses on introducing students to the basics of DJing, beat-making, and sound design while integrating AI-powered software that can assist in composing, mixing, and mastering music. According to organizers, the goal is not to replace creativity but to enhance it, giving young learners a competitive edge in an industry that is rapidly evolving due to technological innovation.
Workshops under the program are expected to combine hands-on training with interactive sessions where participants experiment with AI tools to create original tracks. DJ Izzy emphasizes that the project is designed to inspire confidence in young people, especially those who may not have access to expensive production equipment but are eager to explore music as a career path.
Beyond technical training, the initiative also highlights digital responsibility, encouraging participants to understand ethical use of AI in creative work, including originality, copyright awareness, and responsible collaboration with technology. This approach aims to prepare them not just as music producers, but as informed digital creators.
The program is expected to roll out across selected schools and community centers, with plans for expansion depending on its success. Organizers believe the initiative could help discover new talent while positioning young Africans and diaspora creatives at the forefront of the global music-tech revolution.
