Jennifer Lopez takes to ‘Ifunanya’ as Nigerian identity

Jennifer Lopez, the American actress and singer, has embraced a Nigerian name, ‘Ifunanya.’

The suggestion came from Nigerian media personality Drea Okeke during a recent interview.

Okeke, describing Lopez as a “certified lover girl,” explained that Ifunanya translates to love in the Igbo language.

Inquisitive about her Nigerian name, Lopez asked during the interview, to which Okeke replied, “Because you’re a certified lover girl, this name means love. It is Ifunanya. That’s your name, love.”

Delighted, Lopez embraced the name, saying, “Ifunanya! Call me Ifunanya.”

The conversation continued with Okeke suggesting a Nigerian name, “Obim,” meaning “my heart,” for Lopez’s husband, Ben Affleck.

Lopez expressed her liking for the name, stating, “Obim? I like that. I will call all my kids that.”

It’s worth noting that Lopez and Affleck, after rekindling their love, tied the knot in 2023, marking a significant event in their relationship, 17 years after their initial breakup.
