Dapo Abiodun makes Ogun Nigeria’s flourishing economy with quadrupled effect

The Ogun State Government announces that its economy has quadrupled in six years, growing from N3.5 trillion in 2019 to N16 trillion in 2025.

Governor Dapo Abiodun made this known on Friday via a statement on X (formerly Twitter) after a courtesy visit from executives of MAG Group at his Oke-Mosan office in Abeokuta.

He stated that deliberate investments in infrastructure, social amenities, and tourism revitalisation had fueled the state’s rapid economic rise. According to him, Olumo Rock, Ogun’s foremost tourist attraction, now generates about N20 million weekly following its facelift—compared to the same amount annually before the renovation.

“We are one of the two best-performing states in Nigeria and the fastest-growing economy in the country,” Abiodun said. “Between 2019 and 2025, our economy has risen from N3.5 trillion to N16 trillion.”

Abiodun also announced a major investment pledge from MAG Group, worth between $1.8 billion and $2.5 billion, aimed at transforming Ogun into a leading leisure and entertainment hub in Africa.

MAG Group’s Strategic Adviser, Fayad Fayad, said the project would include a Disneyland-style resort—the first of its kind in Africa—featuring parks, hotels, entertainment centres, and water facilities.

“This initiative is about having a Disneyland resort within Ogun State. It is a huge project for entertainment and tourism, and we are very proud to initiate it here,” Fayad said.

He assured investors of Ogun’s conducive business environment, highlighting the state’s competitive advantage of land, infrastructure, and skilled manpower.

The state recently released 140 hectares of land for the construction of the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port along the Epe/Mojoda Expressway, a project aimed at easing Lagos port congestion and boosting regional trade.
