The Delta State Government, through the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is set to host the 2026 Delta State SDGs Summer Camp, a transformative week-long learning and leadership experience designed to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to become active contributors to sustainable development.
Scheduled to hold from 10th – 15th August 2026 at Playlearn Academy, Asaba, this year’s camp is themed:
“STEP UP: Advancing the M.O.R.E. Agenda Through Child-Centred Sustainable Development.”
The Summer Camp will bring together 150 children and young people from across Delta State for an engaging programme that combines education, innovation, leadership, environmental stewardship, civic responsibility, creativity, entrepreneurship, mental wellbeing, and practical Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) learning.
Speaking ahead of the programme, Lady Diana Ereyitomi Eyo-Enoette, Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs, noted that the initiative reflects the Delta State Government’s commitment to investing in young people as partners in building a more sustainable future.
“The SDGs Summer Camp is more than a holiday programme. It is a platform for raising informed, responsible and solution-driven young leaders who understand that sustainable development begins with everyday actions. Through this camp, we are nurturing the next generation of changemakers who will help shape the future of Delta State and Nigeria.”
The 2026 edition places special emphasis on inclusion, innovation, environmental responsibility, leadership development, mental wellbeing, teamwork, and active citizenship, while aligning with Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda and the global Sustainable Development Goals.
The camp will also feature distinguished government officials, development partners, educators, traditional institutions, security agencies, humanitarian organizations, and private sector partners who will engage participants through interactive learning sessions, practical workshops, mentorship, exhibitions, outdoor activities, and leadership experiences.
The Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs calls on parents, development partners, corporate organizations, civil society organizations, volunteers, and the media to support this important initiative as Delta State continues to position its young people at the centre of sustainable development.
As preparations enter the final phase, the Office looks forward to welcoming participants and stakeholders to what promises to be one of the state’s most impactful youth development programmes.
