For Educational Transformation, Otunba Gbenga Daniel Recognized with Public Service Excellence Award

Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Governor of Ogun State and current representative of Ogun East Senatorial District, has been honoured with a Public Service Excellence Award for his transformative involvement in Nigeria’s educational sector and public service.
The prestigious award was presented by the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) – Eminent Personality Forum, Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) Chapter, during a ceremony held at Ijagun, Ogun State.
Senator Daniel was specifically honoured for his pivotal role in upgrading the former Tai Solarin College of Education to university status during his gubernatorial tenure. This transformation created the foundation for the institution’s recent elevation to federal university status by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Comrade Niyi Osoba, representing Senator Daniel, described the recognition as a well-deserved acknowledgement of the senator’s visionary leadership.
“Senator Gbenga Daniel was bestowed with this honour because of his contributions to the growth and development of the ivory tower and his meritorious contributions to the public service,” Osoba stated.
The award ceremony was chaired by Hon. Dr. Samuel Babatunde Adejare, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council at the Federal University of Health and Sciences, Azare, Bauchi State.
Notable attendees included TASUED Vice-Chancellor Prof. Oluwole Banjo, Acting Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Barr. Kayode Oladele (who served as guest speaker) and political figure, Otunba Segun Sowunmi.
The event also featured discussions led by Prof. Obatunde Bright Adetola of Olabisi Onabanjo University, with participation from TASUED Registrar Mr. Oladapo Oke and other principal officers.
The award recognises Senator Daniel’s broader contributions beyond education, including his commitment to infrastructural development and dedication to improving the welfare of citizens across Ogun East, Ogun State, and Nigeria.
This latest honour adds to Senator Daniel’s growing list of recognitions for his public service achievements and continued impact on Nigeria’s development trajectory.
