President Bola Tinubu and First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday visited the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Iganmu, Lagos, for the national premiere of MKO, a documentary on the life and political legacy of late businessman, publisher and politician, Chief Moshood Abiola.
The President’s arrival was captured in a video shared by his Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, showing Tinubu and the First Lady entering the venue as a band played the national anthem, with guests standing in respect.
Dada said, “President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu have arrived at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Iganmu, Lagos, for the national premiere of ‘MKO’, a feature-length documentary on the life and political legacy of late businessman, publisher and politician, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.”
The premiere is being held on Thursday, October 1, Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day, with the documentary revisiting Abiola’s life, political career and role in the struggle that followed the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Directed by Ose Oyamendan, MKO examines Abiola’s political legacy through archival materials and accounts connected to the June 12 struggle. The documentary is having its Nigerian premiere following its international screening at the Sheffield DocFest in the United Kingdom.
