Tinubu set to address Nigerians on October 1 broadcast

President Bola Tinubu will deliver a nationwide broadcast on Wednesday, October 1, at 7a.m. to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary.

This was according to a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga about the broadcast

The statement is titled, “2025 Independence Anniversary: President Tinubu Addresses The Nation.”

The statement added, “All television, radio stations, and other electronic media outlets are urged to join the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for the broadcast.”

Independence Day speeches have traditionally provided Nigerian presidents with an opportunity to review the state of the nation, highlight achievements, outline policy directions, and reassure citizens of the government’s commitment to national unity.

His 2024 message called for patience from Nigerians, promising that the sacrifices demanded by ongoing reforms would yield long-term benefits.

This year’s broadcast is expected to touch on the administration’s progress in economic recovery, security operations, and ongoing infrastructure projects, while also reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since independence in 1960.

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, gained independence from Britain on October 1, 1960, and has since marked the date annually with official ceremonies, presidential speeches, and parades.
