Agents of political parties at a polling location in the Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State on Saturday demanded that ballot papers be counted before the commencement of voting in the ongoing 2026 governorship election.

Footage shared by Channels Television showed party agents questioning the number of ballot papers reportedly delivered to the polling unit.

One of the agents insisted that the ballot papers be counted, expressing concern that the number available appeared to be fewer than expected.

“If you count it now, it might not even be up to 100. You said you brought 594, and it’s not up to, how come?” the agent was heard saying.

An INEC official at the polling location reportedly explained that there had been an error in the initial counting of the ballot papers and that they would be recounted.

The agent subsequently insisted that voting should not proceed if the number of ballot papers did not correspond with the expected quantity.

“If it’s not up to 584, people won’t vote here,” the agent said.

The ballot papers were subsequently counted in the presence of the party agents as efforts continued to resolve the dispute and pave the way for voting to commence.
