Nigeria’s Tech4Her Empowers Aspiring Females In Technology

In a world where diversity and inclusion reign supreme, the tech industry has emerged as a pivotal battleground for leveling the playing field.

Allow us to introduce you to a true visionary, Mojibade Sosanya, also known as The Lady MC, who is not just talking the talk but also confidently walking it. She is the visionary and driving force behind Tech4Her – a dynamic community birthed from her unwavering passion and dedication to uplifting, supporting, honoring, and empowering aspiring females in technology.

With International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8th March at the heart of her endeavor, Mojibade embarked on a thrilling journey, ready to challenge gender norms and open doors for female tech enthusiasts. As the founder and initiator of Tech4Her, she knew that the month of March, filled with appreciation for women and the empowerment of the girl child, would serve as the perfect backdrop for her mission.

Piggybacking on the powerful theme of IWD 2023, “Embrace Equity,” Mojibadeshow aimed to spark a revolution.

Her rallying cry is to promote diversity and inclusion by inspiring more women to venture into tech. With her unwavering determination and leadership, Mojibade partnered with two of the top tech academies in Nigeria, Techtitude and Heels and Tech. Together, they designed a plan, offering free courses on high-demand technical skills, and a call for applications was put out for interested participants.

The result is a surge of energy that was impossible to ignore. The call for entries spread, catching the attention of almost 14,000 accounts. The buzz was real, and the excitement contagious.

Over 600 ambitious young women seized the moment, successfully applied for Tech4Her’s life-altering tech courses.

After a meticulous selection process and interviews, eight ladies – Damaris Onyendi, Umar Muneerah, Mary Joseph, OluwandeIbukun, Faith Gora, Sophia Toyin Arowosegbe, Akinyemi Oluyemisi, and Deborah Ariyo – topped the list. These were no ordinary students; they were pioneers, trailblazers, and warriors, proving that the tech world belonged to them.

Each participant brought her unique strengths and stories, representing the beautiful tapestry of diversity that Tech4Her sought to champion, their determination was contagious. One of the beneficiaries, IbukunOluwande, shared; “Beyond my newly acquired skills in web design and application, my communication and attention to detail skills have definitely improved, thanks to my amazing tutors.”

Sophia Arowosegbe, another participant, said, “TechForHer has been a revelation. The journey has helped me tap into my true potential and discover skills that I didn’t know I possessed.”

TechForHer’s narrative, fueled by Mojibade’s unwavering dedication, doesn’t stop here. Their impact has ignited a wildfire of change, echoing across the industry. As the tech world continues to evolve, Mojibadeshow’s message remains steadfast: they’ve only just begun. “I am so inspired by the success of this cohort, I am committed now more than ever to continue to support young ladies to pursue their dreams in tech and further close the gender gap in the industry.”

As we applaud the remarkable strides of Damaris, Muneerah, Mary, Oluwande, Faith, Sophia, Oluyemisi, and Deborah and celebrate their evolution into “Tech sis,” the spotlight shines brightly on Mojibade show, the unstoppable driving force behind TechForHer. Her journey is a testament to the supremacy of passion, collaboration, and relentless commitment to shattering boundaries.
