South African 33-year-old Model, Tshego Gaelae Emerges First Black Mrs World

Tshego Gaelae, a 33-year-old model from South Africa, shone bright as she was crowned as winner of the 40th Mrs World pageant held in Las Vegas, USA.

Gaelae, who represented South Africa, outshined contestants from across the globe to claim the prestigious title.

During the final, Sri Lanka’s Ishadi Amanda was named first runner-up, while Thailand’s Ploy Panperm secured the second runner-up spot. Mrs World pageant is recognised as the inaugural beauty contest for married women, established in 1984.

“To God Be the Glory. Thank you so much for the love and support, I am beyond grateful and elated! My beautiful South Africa, the crown is coming Home”, Gaelae posted on her Instagram handle.

Gaelae, an admitted attorney, works as a labour relations manager at a South African law firm. She is known for supporting women and children who have faced domestic violence and is active with her own NGO, We Are Our Children’s Keepers, which raises funds to provide essential items such as school shoes, uniforms, stationery, and accessories to underprivileged school children.

She also produces impactful content for various brands on her social media platforms and shares educational material for My Lawyer’s Corner on her YouTube channel.

The Mrs World pageant, founded in 1984, is dedicated to celebrating the beauty and achievements of married women worldwide.

Gaelae is the first black woman to hold the title. In 2024, Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, made history as the first Nigerian and West African to finish as the first runner-up at the Miss Universe 2024 competition held in Mexico City in November.
