    As Governor Okpebholo marks 100 Days in Office, First Lady displays prowess as catalyst by Empowering Edo Women.

    The Office of the Edo First Lady, led by Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has within the 100 days of the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpeholo becomes a catalyst for change in Edo State with a steadfast focus on women’s empowerment, support for survivors of violence, and community health.

    The Edo State Governor’s initiative to deliver quality empowerment and Gender Based Violence free state, is becoming a reality.

    The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has been proactive and blazing the trail in ensuring GBV is reduced to the barest minimum and women are well represented in Edo State.

    This is a broader view of the State Governor, Senator Monday Okpehbolo vision of making Edo State a better place for everyone one.

    The core of Mrs. Anani’s work is a commitment to ensuring that women are not only heard but are also active agents of change. Recognizing that women are the backbone of every community, her office has implemented strategic initiatives aimed at empowering women socially, economically, and politically.

    These efforts are intertwined with the broader vision of creating a society free from gender-based violence and discrimination.

    The Office of the First Lady has taken decisive action in response to acts of gender-based violence. Following the horrific incident involving 12-year-old Esther Friday, her office vowed that justice would be delivered under the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law.

    This firm stance underscores the state’s zero-tolerance policy for violence and reinforces its commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of its most vulnerable citizens.

    In another critical intervention, the office extended immediate support to domestic violence survivor Uyi Tina, who suffered significant losses after an arson attack on her apartment by awarding her a cheque of Five Million Naira (₦5000000.00).

    Mrs. Anani’s team not only provided essential financial relief but also reaffirmed the Government’s promise to stand by those in need.

    Health and well-being have also been central to the office’s agenda done in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Edo Specialist Hospital, a free pap smear screening and breast mammogram initiative was organized to mark the World Cancer Day.

    This proactive measure highlights the importance of early detection and preventive care, ensuring that women across the state have access to quality healthcare services.

    Furthermore, the Office of the First Lady has taken a strong stand against harmful cultural practices such as female genital mutilation, FGM. Through dedicated advocacy and community outreach, her office is working to transform societal attitudes and secure a safer future for young girls in Edo State.

    Beyond these immediate interventions, the office is also exploring partnerships to empower women economically. The support initiatives in agriculture and entrepreneurship, the Office of the First Lady is helping to create sustainable income opportunities and enhance food security, particularly in rural communities.

    The vulnerable across the Eighteen local government area in Edo state, the inmates of the Leprosy Rehabilitation Centre in Ossiomo-Ogan, Orhionmwon Local Government Area, and Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Uselu, patient are beneficiaries of Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI ) Social Investment programme, Food Outreach Scheme.

    In just 100 days, under the dynamic leadership of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Office of the First Lady, has become a beacon of hope and progress. Through its multifaceted programs—ranging from legal advocacy and health initiatives to economic empowerment and cultural transformation—the office is not only addressing the pressing issues of today but also laying the groundwork for a more equitable and resilient tomorrow in Edo State.

    A New Edo Has Risen.
