Nigerian media mogul Mo Abudu is set to deepen her global influence as the EbonyLife brand prepares to launch EbonyLife Place London, a major cultural and creative hub dedicated to amplifying African storytelling and entrepreneurship in the United Kingdom. The new venture, situated in the heart of London, is designed as a multi-purpose space that will serve as a meeting point for filmmakers, content creators, investors, and creatives of African descent. The project reflects EbonyLife’s long-standing mission to project authentic African narratives onto the global stage while creating sustainable opportunities within the creative economy. Speaking on the development, Abudu emphasized that the initiative is more than just a physical space, describing it as “a home for African creatives in the diaspora and a bridge connecting talent from Africa to the rest of the world.” She added that the hub would foster collaboration, innovation, and access to global markets, noting that “the time has come for African stories to take their rightful place at the center of global conversations.” EbonyLife Place London is expected to host film screenings, industry events, training programmes, and business incubation initiatives aimed at nurturing emerging talent while supporting established creators. The facility will also provide networking opportunities for stakeholders across film, television, fashion, and digital media. Industry analysts say the move signals a strategic expansion of EbonyLife’s footprint beyond Nigeria and reinforces the growing global appetite for African content. By establishing a permanent presence in one of the world’s leading creative capitals, the brand is positioning itself as a key player in shaping how African stories are produced, distributed, and consumed internationally. The launch marks another milestone in EbonyLife’s evolution from a Nigerian-based media company into a globally recognized creative powerhouse, underscoring Abudu’s vision of building platforms that not only tell African stories but also empower the people behind them.

Afenifere declares confidence in Kayode Oladele’s ability to deliver as Acting Chairman Of Federal Character Commission

The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has lauded the appointment of Hon. Kayode Oladele as the Acting Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

The group recently described Kayode Oladele as a “detribalised Nigerian and social crusader of impeccable character, whose life’s work has been defined by a deep commitment to equity, justice, and fairness for all Nigerians.”

Speaking via a press statement, Abagun Kole Omololu, National Organising Secretary, Afenifere, appreciated Oladele for the historical role he played during Nigeria’s struggle for democracy, citing his brave activism during the troubling days of military rule.

According to him, as an active member of Afenifere, the Campaign for Democracy (CD) and the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Oladele played a prominent role during the June 12 struggle and assisted the actualization of the presidential mandate won by Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola in the 1993 Presidential elections.

Abagun stated that Oladele’s memorable role in the pro-democracy movement and his crucial sacrifices for the enthronement of democratic governance set him apart as a patriot with a persistent track record of diligent public service.

“Even as a member of the House of Representatives, he introduced and co- sponsored the Public Holiday Amendment Act which shifted the Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12 every year. He also introduced and sponsored the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit Act which was signed into law by President Muhammad Buhari setting up a central body for processing intelligence related to financial transaction in Nigeria,” it read.

Abagun further noted that Oladele is popular for being a committed Afenifere member whose works align with the organization’s equitable Nigeria goal.

He concluded by emphasising the group’s absolute confidence in Hon. Kayode Oladele’s competence to deliver beyond expectations as the Acting Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).

“Within Afenifere, he is recognized as a committed member whose contributions continue to resonate with the group’s vision for a just and equitable Nigeria.

As one of us, we have unflinching confidence in Oladele’s demonstrable competence, experience, and integrity to deliver on the new mandate,” it added.
