Uber has introduced a new hotel booking feature within its app as part of its strategy to evolve into a comprehensive “everything app.” The service, developed in partnership with Expedia, allows users to search and reserve hotel rooms from a selection of more than 700,000 properties. The feature integrates travel tools such as maps, filters, and pricing options, while enabling payments through saved card details already stored in the Uber platform. According to Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, the company is expanding beyond ride-hailing and food delivery to become a unified platform for a wide range of everyday services. Expedia CEO Ariane Gorin said the collaboration is aimed at simplifying travel planning and reducing the steps required to complete bookings. Uber also plans to extend the partnership to include short-term rental listings through Vrbo in the future. The move reflects a broader global trend toward multifunctional apps that combine services like transport, shopping, and payments in a single ecosystem, similar to platforms such as WeChat and Alipay in China. Other tech companies are also pursuing similar “super app” models, including Airbnb, which has added experiences and personal services, and X, which is exploring financial services integration. Uber further revealed plans to incorporate AI-powered tools, including meal planning, shopping list creation, delivery coordination, and a voice assistant for navigating the app.

The General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr Daniel Olukoya, has anointed 5,000 ministers during the 2025 Global Ministers Conference, which ended on Sunday.

The three-day conference, with the theme “The Message, the Messenger, and the Power,” began on Friday and featured teachings, specialised sessions and ordinations.

In his message, Olukoya emphasised the importance of spiritual mentorship and divine recommendation, warning ministers against rebellion and carelessness in their calling.

He said, “Most people do not have access to God’s true motivation, so they develop a strong rebellious spirit. Ministers of God should not be rebellious but serve with holiness, integrity, loyalty, and humility.

“This is because the first rule in the school of the anointed is that they must be recommended by God. Only God can do this, not rebellion, not self-appointment.”

He cautioned the newly ordained ministers to examine their lives carefully and live as true shepherds.

He said, “Today, we are going to talk about the fact that there can be no Joshua without Moses, no Elisha without Elijah.

“The first rule in the school of the anointed is that they must be recommended by God. Only God can do this. No man has power. Only God has power. If it is not God’s idea, then all your efforts will be nothing. But if God is with you, He will give you joy.”

“You must be a sheep shepherd, not a sheep scavenger. Shepherds who are terrorists are not successful at work. You must be diligent. This is working for God, not man,” he said.

The cleric prayed for the ministers not to fall back after their ordination, saying, “Most people who fail in ministry do not fail because they lack talent or charisma but because they fail to maintain holiness, humility, and obedience to God. I congratulate you. God bless you, in Jesus’ name.”

Across the three-day conference, Olukoya also addressed sensitive leadership topics including “100 Pastor Killers,” “100 Mistakes Pastors and Leaders Make,” “50 Characteristics of Pastors Who Finished Well,” and “Ministry Versus Ethics Bondage.”

His wife, Pastor Shade Olukoya, delivered a teaching on “The Role of Women in God’s Army,” encouraging female ministers to see themselves as key players in spiritual leadership.

She advised women to rise above limitations and recognise their unique place in the advancement of the gospel.

The Head of the Music Department at the University of Lagos, Prof. Albert Oikelome, also taught a session on music appreciation, urging ministers to pay greater attention to their music departments and invest in them as vital arms of church growth.

He encouraged ministers to see church music as more than entertainment, describing it as a central tool of worship and evangelism.

He said, “Every branch should invest in its music department because music sets the atmosphere for God’s presence.”

The event also featured health talks, health checks, and deliverance prayer sessions.

Closing the event, Dr. Olukoya expressed gratitude to the organising committee and acknowledged the contributions of key leaders, including Pastor Abiodun Ladejola and Pastor Clement Imoru, who coordinated the ordination programme.
