NUJ Lagos Set For 2025 Press Week, To Spotlight Business Opportunities, Media Role, And Energy Security
The NUJ Lagos Council says its 2025 Press Week will explore how journalists can drive conversations around economic resilience and energy security at a time when Nigerians face rising costs, unstable power supply, and shrinking business margins.
The gathering, set for 24–30 November, is expected to unite hundreds of journalists, media executives, students, and industry leaders.
Below Are The Week-long activities planned;
The Press Week begins on Monday, 24 November, with a Health Walk under the Ikeja Bridge at 7 a.m., followed by games at the NUJ Secretariat.
A flagship lecture will be held on Wednesday, 26 November, at the BOS Hall, Lagos Television Complex, Agidingbi. NUJ says industry captains, scholars, and students will discuss the theme:
“Unlocking Opportunities for Businesses in a Challenging Economy: The Role of the Media / Roadmaps to Energy Security in Nigeria.”
On Thursday, 27 November, a Media Rendezvous will allow NUJ chapels to engage in cultural activities, dancing, and informal
A Juma’at Service follows on Friday, 28 November, at the Lagos State Secretariat Central Mosque, while the Gala/Awards Night later that day will celebrate organisations and individuals “who have carved a niche for themselves.”
The week ends on Sunday, 30 November, with a Thanksgiving Service at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa.

NUJ Lagos Chairman, Mr Adeleye Ajayi, said the week provides an opportunity for journalists to reconnect beyond the pressures of daily reporting.
“Journalists are hardworking people and, as such, we should make out time to bond and celebrate one another,” he said.
“The Press Week is held once a year, and journalists should seize the opportunity to reconnect.”
NUJ officials say the programme also reinforces the union’s commitment to professional development, welfare, and industry cohesion.

Media analysts say the theme reflects national concerns about the economy and persistent fears over energy stability, a critical factor for businesses across Lagos and beyond.
They add that bringing journalists and thought leaders together helps strengthen public understanding of economic and energy reforms.
