LAGOS – Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised Lagosians a year of aggressive developmental growth, pledging to deliver a new wave of transformational projects across the state’s critical sectors throughout 2026.

Speaking on Sunday at the 26th Lagos Annual Thanksgiving Service held at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), the Governor identified transportation, agriculture, health, energy, and the environment as the primary beneficiaries of his administration’s upcoming fiscal focus.
The service, themed “Grateful for Unfailing Mercies”(Lamentations 3:22–23), served as both a spiritual reflection and a policy roadmap for the nation’s commercial hub.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that his administration remains steadfast in driving economic development through the “THEMES Plus Agenda,” ensuring it remains synchronized with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” mandate at the federal level.
He extended a call to action to leaders at the sub-national level, urging them to align with the federal government to ensure that the “dividends of democracy reach a greater number of Nigerians.”
Commending the resilience of the state’s residents, Sanwo-Olu urged Lagosians to maintain their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC). He specifically highlighted the upcoming electronic registration exercise as a vital tool for citizens to secure continued democratic dividends.
“Grateful for Unfailing Mercies,” the Governor noted, reflecting on the theme of the day while acknowledging the support that has sustained his administration’s vision.
The event drew a “who’s who” of Lagosian leadership and society, including:
Executive Leadership: First Lady Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and his wife, Oluremi; and Chief of Staff Mr. Tayo Ayinde.
Legislative & Judiciary: Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, and Chief Judge Justice Kazeem Alogba.
Elder Statesmen & Dignitaries: Former Deputy Governor Mr. Femi Pedro; former Speaker Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji; and Mrs. Bimbola Jakande, wife of the late former Governor Lateef Jakande.
The congregation also included members of the State Executive Council, heads of security agencies, and a broad spectrum of political, religious, and traditional leaders, all gathering to mark the commencement of the new administrative year.
