Nigerian businessman and socialite E-Money has publicly distanced himself from comedian and singer Carter Efe following a viral video showing damage to a high-end luxury vehicle allegedly linked to the socialite. The footage, which circulated widely across social media platforms, shows a visibly distressed Carter Efe near a damaged car as onlookers react in shock.
In a statement shared through his official channels, E-Money clarified that he had no involvement in the incident and suggested that the vehicle in question was neither entrusted to Carter Efe nor officially released to him. “I want to make it clear that I was not part of whatever happened in that video,” he said, adding that his name had been unfairly dragged into the controversy. “People should stop spreading false narratives. I value my reputation and the safety of my property.”
The businessman further stressed that he maintains strict control over his fleet of luxury vehicles and would not hand them over casually. “My cars are handled by professionals. If any vehicle leaves my residence, it is properly documented,” he stated, implying that the circumstances surrounding the damaged car were irregular.
Carter Efe, who rose to prominence for his comedic skits and music, has yet to release a detailed formal statement addressing the ownership of the vehicle or the events that led to the damage. However, in short clips posted online, he appeared shaken and repeatedly insisted that the situation was not intentional, saying, “I didn’t mean for this to happen,” while attempting to explain himself to those present at the scene.
Sources close to the situation indicate that the incident may have occurred during a private outing, though details remain unclear. Eyewitness accounts in the viral video suggest the car sustained significant exterior damage, prompting speculation about reckless driving, mechanical failure, or an accident involving another vehicle.
Online reactions have been sharply divided, with some users criticizing Carter Efe for alleged negligence, while others questioned why he had access to such an expensive automobile in the first place. Supporters of E-Money praised his swift response, arguing that public figures must quickly clarify misinformation to protect their brands.
Security analysts note that luxury car incidents involving celebrities often escalate rapidly online due to the high value of the assets involved and the public fascination with elite lifestyles. They warn that misinformation can spread faster than verified facts, complicating efforts to establish the truth.
As of press time, no official police report or insurance statement had been made public, leaving many questions unanswered about liability, ownership, and potential financial consequences. Both camps have remained largely silent beyond initial reactions, fueling continued speculation across entertainment circles.
Observers say the controversy underscores the risks celebrities face when private matters become public spectacles, particularly in an era where smartphones can broadcast incidents globally within minutes. Whether further clarification will emerge from either party remains uncertain, but the episode has already sparked widespread debate about accountability, friendship boundaries, and the pressures of fame.
