The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially endorsed the Meet Africa Fashion Festival (MAFEST) 2026, a major continental fashion and textile event themed “Take Your Place Africa!” aimed at strengthening Africa’s creative economy and industrial fashion value chain.
The endorsement reflects Nigeria’s growing ambition to position itself as a central hub for fashion innovation, textile production, and creative industry expansion across Africa.
MAFEST 2026 is expected to bring together designers, investors, fashion entrepreneurs, and industry stakeholders from 20 African countries, creating a large platform for collaboration, investment opportunities, and cross-border cultural exchange within the fashion ecosystem.
Organizers describe the festival as more than a showcase, emphasizing its role as a strategic business and networking platform designed to connect African designers with investors, boost production capacity, and strengthen regional textile supply chains.
The Federal Government’s support underscores the increasing importance of the creative sector in economic diversification, job creation, and export development. Authorities believe initiatives like MAFEST can help reduce reliance on imported fashion products while promoting locally made African brands on a global stage.
The event will also feature investment forums, capacity-building workshops, and industry discussions focused on scaling African fashion businesses and improving competitiveness in international markets.
With Nigeria at the forefront, MAFEST 2026 is expected to play a significant role in reshaping Africa’s fashion landscape and elevating the continent’s presence in the global creative economy.
