The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has officially debunked a widely circulated report claiming that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination has been postponed. In a strongly worded statement issued by the board’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, the exam body described the viral notice as “malicious and fake,” clarifying that it did not emanate from their office. Candidates and the general public have been urged to disregard the misinformation, as all arrangements for the main examination remain on course and are scheduled to take place from Thursday, April 16, to Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Following the clarification on the exam dates, the board also announced the official release of the results for the 2026 Mock UTME, which was conducted on Saturday, March 28. Out of the 224,597 candidates who registered for the preparatory exercise, approximately 152,586 successfully sat for the test across 989 Computer-Based Test centres nationwide. Candidates can now access their mock scores by sending “MOCKRESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the unique phone number they utilized during the initial registration process.
The mock exercise was not without its hurdles, as several centres reportedly faced significant technical challenges, including server failures and power outages that left some students stranded. In response to these inadequacies, JAMB has delisted over 20 CBT centres for failing to meet the required technical standards. This proactive measure is intended to ensure a seamless experience for the over 1.9 million candidates expected to participate in the main UTME later this month.
Furthermore, the board has issued a stern warning against fraudulent individuals and groups, particularly on platforms like WhatsApp, who claim to have the ability to inflate or manipulate examination scores. JAMB emphasized that such claims are entirely false and criminal in nature. Any candidate found engaging with these scammers or attempting to compromise the integrity of the examination risks the immediate cancellation of their registration or the permanent withholding of their results.
