Ogun, Lagos Police Set Up Operation Kosaye Joint Security Initiative.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, for initiating the joint Ogun-Lagos security operation, codenamed Operation Kosaye, describing it as a proactive, intelligence-driven initiative that has significantly strengthened security across the two neighbouring states.

The governor said the operation had recorded remarkable successes through coordinated security operations that combed forests and criminal hideouts along the Ogun-Lagos corridor, neutralised armed bandits, arrested suspected criminals and rescued kidnapped victims.

Abiodun made the commendation in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade.

The statement partly read, “The achievements recorded under Operation Kosaye have restored public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and reinforced the commitment of security agencies to the protection of lives and property.”

The governor added that “the sustained offensive against criminal elements has effectively made Ogun and Lagos States increasingly hostile to kidnappers, bandits and other violent criminals who had attempted to exploit the shared border communities as safe havens.”

Abiodun pledged continued support for security agencies through the provision of logistics, operational resources and technology to enhance policing across the state.

He added, “sustained investment in security infrastructure, surveillance technology and operational mobility has continued to complement the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in maintaining peace, law and order.”

The governor also commended the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos states, CP Bode Ojajuni and CP Tijani Fatai, as well as officers participating in the operation, for their professionalism, courage and dedication to duty.

He noted that “Operation Kosaye has demonstrated the importance of collaboration, intelligence sharing and coordinated inter-state action in tackling emerging security threats.

“It goes to show that criminal elements can only be effectively defeated when security agencies work seamlessly across jurisdictional boundaries.”

Abiodun urged other states to adopt similar collaborative security frameworks capable of preventing criminals from exploiting state boundaries to evade arrest.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through sustained investment in logistics, technology and other operational resources, stressing that protecting lives and property remains a top priority of his government.

The Nigeria Police Force on Saturday launched Operation Kosaye, a joint security initiative involving the Ogun and Lagos State commands, to tackle insecurity across both states.

Speaking during the launch at the Police Training School, Iperu-Remo, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, alongside his Lagos State counterpart, Tijani Fatai, disclosed that the operation had already resulted in the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the neutralisation of four suspected kidnappers and the arrest of 88 criminal suspects across the two states.

Ojajuni said the operation was initiated by the Inspector-General of Police with the support of the Ogun and Lagos state governments to flush kidnappers and other violent criminals out of forests, border communities and other identified hideouts.

He explained that “Kosaye,” a Yoruba expression meaning “there is no hiding place for criminals,” reflects the operation’s objective of denying criminal elements safe havens within the two states.
