Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, a prominent Yoruba elder statesman and leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has died at the age of 100.
Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa confirmed Fasoranti’s death on Tuesday in Akure in a condolence statement issued on behalf of the state government.
The governor described the late Afenifere leader as a patriarch whose life was defined by wisdom, integrity and selfless service to Ondo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria.
Aiyedatiwa said Fasoranti’s contributions to public affairs, as well as his counsel and principled positions on justice and good governance, would be greatly missed.
He added that the elder statesman had left an enduring legacy of honour and service that would continue to inspire future generations.
“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Ondo State, I commiserate with the Fasoranti family, the people of Akure Kingdom and the entire State over this great loss,” the governor said.
Aiyedatiwa also prayed for the peaceful repose of Fasoranti’s soul and extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the people of Akure Kingdom and residents of Ondo State.
