Nigeria’s journalism platform, Premium Times is set to host its combined third and fourth annual staff awards this weekend, celebrating exceptional contributions by its reporters, editors, and other team members over the past two years.
The ceremony, which covers the 2024 and 2025 editorial cycles, aims to recognise dedication, hard work, and excellence among staff who have helped sustain the organisation’s reputation as a frontrunner in investigative and public interest journalism in Nigeria.
Activities will begin on Friday with an internal gathering at the organisation’s headquarters in Abuja, restricted to staff members. The highlight of the event will take place on Saturday evening at BON Hotel Octagon, where award winners will be officially announced.
Management described the occasion as more than a routine corporate event, noting that it serves as a moment to celebrate excellence and acknowledge the collective efforts driving the organisation forward.
Speaking during an editorial meeting, Managing Editor Idris Akinbajo emphasised that the award night is an opportunity to express appreciation to staff for their contributions across both years under review.
Several categories will be featured at the awards, including Reporter of the Year and Story of the Year for both 2024 and 2025. Other recognitions include Editor of the Year, Digital Strategist of the Year, and Business Development Staffer of the Year, reflecting the organisation’s growing focus on digital innovation and audience engagement.
Winners in each category will receive cash prizes and commemorative plaques in recognition of their achievements.
Founded in 2011, Premium Times Nigeria has built a strong reputation as one of the country’s most trusted online news platforms, particularly known for its investigative reporting and commitment to transparency.
