Veteran broadcaster and music historian Benson Idonije officially presented his long-anticipated memoir, Dis Fela Sef! A Memoir, at a vibrant gathering held at Bature Brewery in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, May 2.
The event drew a lively mix of cultural figures, music enthusiasts, and close associates, all gathered to celebrate a book that offers a deeply personal account of the life and legacy of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. Idonije, widely known as Fela’s first manager and a longtime confidant, uses the memoir to chronicle their early years together, providing rare insights into the artist’s evolution and the birth of Afrobeat.
Family members and friends of Idonije were present in strong support, contributing to the intimate and reflective atmosphere of the occasion. Among notable attendees was Prince Eji Oyewale, alongside entrepreneur Duro Ikujenyo.
