GTBank SMS alert fee on customers transactions goes on increase from May

Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has informed its customers of an upcoming adjustment in the cost of SMS transaction alerts, set to take effect from Thursday, May 1, 2025.

The fee for receiving SMS transaction alerts will rise from ₦4 to ₦6 per message, a move prompted by recent increases in telecom rates, as communicated by telecommunication service providers.

In a statement released to customers, the bank emphasized the importance of transaction alerts, which help account holders track their financial activities and stay informed of any changes to their accounts.

GTBank reassured its customers that the adjustment is in response to external factors impacting telecom services, ensuring continued delivery of timely and secure alerts.

For those who wish to opt out of SMS transaction alerts, GTBank provides an alternative through an online transaction alert form.

It said customers could update their preferences by submitting the form to the bank’s customer support at gtbankmailsupport@gtbank.com.

Additionally, the bank clarified that SMS alerts to international phone numbers would be subject to higher charges.

GTBank thanked its customers for their continued patronage and stressed its commitment to providing reliable banking services despite the rising costs in telecom services.
