Obokun skills acquisition programme, 200 women participating

The training is designed to provide practical knowledge and skills necessary for successful entrepreneurship.

In a significant step towards empowering young women in the Obokun State Constituency, the Adewumi Adeyemi Foundation, in collaboration with the Enterprise Development Center (EDC) of Pan-Atlantic University, has commenced the first phase of a comprehensive entrepreneurship training program.

The initiative, which began this week, aims to equip participants with essential entrepreneurial knowledge and skills, fostering economic self-reliance and sustainable development.

The initial phase of the program saw 200 young women selected from a large pool of applicants to participate in a two-day intensive training session.

The training is designed to provide practical knowledge and skills necessary for successful entrepreneurship, reflecting a commitment to the belief that true empowerment begins with education and skill acquisition.

The founder of Adewumi Adeyemi Foundation, Honourable Adewumi Adeyemi, also known as Irekandu, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Obokun State Constituency, expressed his dedication to fostering an environment that supports education, innovation, and sustainable development.

“Education is key, and knowledge is vital. This initiative is beyond politics; it is about making a lasting impact on the community,” he said.

The feedback from the participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing excitement about the knowledge and skills they have acquired.

“This training program is the first step in a broader empowerment strategy. We received about a thousand applications from around the constituency, and while 200 young women were selected for this phase, the program will continue in subsequent batches of 200 participants each,” Adeyemi explained.

He also thanked the EDC for their invaluable collaboration and support, emphasising the long-term benefits of the program.

“I am committed to continuing this initiative and supporting these young women in their business ventures. The impact of this program will continue for years to come,” he added.

The entrepreneurship training program underscores the commitment of the Adewumi Adeyemi Foundation and its partners to empower young women through education and skill development, ultimately contributing to the economic growth and development of the Obokun State Constituency.
