Nollywood star Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has called on Nigerians to demand selfless leadership as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds, she argued that Nigeria’s biggest challenge is not a lack of resources but a failure of leadership. According to her, the nation needs leaders who are willing to make sacrifices, even at the risk of their own lives, to ensure progress and stability.
She stressed that laws and enforcement are the backbone of any successful nation, noting that even advanced countries would collapse without them. Omotola lamented that despite Nigeria’s wealth in human and natural resources, poor governance has kept the country stagnant. She insisted that true transformation requires leaders who are bold enough to take difficult decisions and prioritize the collective good over personal gain.
Her remarks have sparked widespread reactions across social and traditional media. Supporters praised her courage and agreed that leadership is the root of Nigeria’s problems, while critics questioned whether celebrities should weigh in on political matters, describing her comments as idealistic. Media outlets highlighted her striking statement that Nigeria needs leaders “ready to die for this country,” framing it as a rallying cry for accountability and sacrifice.
The actress’s intervention adds to a growing chorus of voices urging Nigerians to look beyond promises and demand genuine service from those seeking office in 2027.
