In a scathing social media critique that has ignited widespread debate, controversial life coach and social media personality Solomon Buchi has slammed Nigerians who are rallying behind singer Simi following recent public discourse surrounding her career and personal stances. Buchi, known for his polarizing takes on gender roles and societal ethics, did not mince words as he characterized the defensive posture of the singer’s fanbase as a reflection of a deeper moral decay, explicitly labeling the sentiment as “evil.”

The friction began when Simi became the subject of online scrutiny regarding her musical evolution and her outspoken views on contemporary Nigerian social issues. As fans flocked to her defense, Buchi intervened with a blunt assessment of the situation, suggesting that the blind loyalty displayed by many was misplaced. “You are evil,” Buchi reportedly stated, addressing the collective of defenders. He argued that the refusal to hold public figures accountable, or to acknowledge valid criticisms, creates a culture where mediocrity and arrogance are shielded by tribalism and gender politics.

Buchi’s remarks centered on the idea that the “stanning” culture in Nigeria has reached a point where it overrides objective truth. He emphasized that defending a celebrity regardless of the context of their actions or words is a disservice to the progress of the society. “It is a sign of a seared conscience to defend what is clearly wrong just because you have an emotional attachment to a brand,” he noted. He further claimed that the energy spent protecting Simi from critique would be better used in demanding higher standards of character and artistry from the nation’s cultural icons.

The backlash to Buchi’s statement was immediate, with Simi’s supporters accusing him of seeking relevance through antagonism. However, Buchi remained firm, doubling down on his assertion that the “woke” defense of the singer is often hypocritical. He suggested that many defenders are simply projecting their own insecurities or biases rather than engaging with the actual substance of the critique. This latest outburst adds to a long list of public feuds Buchi has engaged in with members of the Nigerian entertainment industry, further cementing his reputation as a provocateur who challenges the status quo of celebrity worship.
