YABATECH Students Obtains ₦19.7m Student Loans ~ NELFUND
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has given out ₦19.7 million to 217 students of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) under the Federal Government’s student loan scheme for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The fund disbursement, which forms part of the third batch of payments, is aimed at supporting students in tertiary institutions to meet their educational expenses.
According to NELFUND, the intervention underscores its commitment to easing the financial burden on students and improving access to higher education across the country.
A document from YABATECH confirmed that the sum of ₦19,765,225 was received on November 6, 2025, in favour of the beneficiaries under the loan programme.
The institution, in its acknowledgement signed by Rector, Dr Ibraheem Abdul, said the funding would significantly support the academic pursuits of the affected students and enable them to achieve their educational goals.
The management also assured that the funds would be judiciously utilised to provide the necessary financial assistance to beneficiaries.
The student loan scheme, introduced by the Federal Government, is designed to expand access to tertiary education by offering interest-free loans to eligible Nigerian students.
NELFUND has continued to roll out disbursements to institutions nationwide as part of efforts to scale up the programme and address longstanding concerns over funding constraints in the education sector.
The initiative is also expected to reduce dropout rates and improve enrolment in public tertiary institutions, particularly among students from low-income backgrounds.
