Delta State SDGs Short Film “Silent Screams” Wins Best Film at 2025 National SDGs Challenge Asaba, Nigeria – 2025

Delta State has recorded a prestigious national milestone following the award of “Best Short Film (State Category)” to the SDGs short film Silent Screams at the 2025 SDGs Short Film Challenge and Awards, organized by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs (OSSAP-SDGs) in partnership with the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Nigeria.
The award-winning film, Silent Screams, powerfully spotlighted Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), using storytelling to emphasize the critical role of education in youth empowerment, community development, and sustainable national growth.
This was a project of the Office of the Special Assistant on SDGs, Delta State, as lead by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, a Governor who continues to create an enabling environment where young creatives, storytellers, and development advocates can express transformative ideas through film, advocacy, and innovation.
Special commendation is also extended to the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs and the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Nigeria for providing a credible national platform that amplifies youth voices and accelerates grassroots SDGs engagement across Nigeria.
The award was formally presented in the presence of the Edo State Coordinator, the United Nations Resident Coordinator to Nigeria, distinguished personalities and institutional leaders, including His Royal Majesty, Olori Atuwatse III, Queen Consort of Warri Kingdom, whose exceptional contributions to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria were formally honoured at the ceremony.
Speaking through the Office of the Special Assistant on SDGs, Delta State reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to deploying creative advocacy, youth-driven innovation, and strategic partnerships to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs at state and community levels.
This recognition further positions Delta State as a leading sub-national hub for SDGs storytelling, youth engagement, and development-driven creative industry innovation in Nigeria.
