Global superstar Shakira has released “Dai Dai,” the official anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026, in an exciting collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy.
The Colombian singer made the announcement herself on social media on Friday, posting: “Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!”
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) followed suit, confirming the track’s release via Sony Music Latin and its immediate availability on all major streaming platforms.
Featuring motivational lyrics centered on resilience, ambition, and unity, “Dai Dai” pays homage to football legends including Pelé, Diego Maradona, Paolo Maldini, Romário, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrés Iniesta, David Beckham, Kaká, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Mohamed Salah.
It also celebrates various football nations such as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, England, Germany, France, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, and the Netherlands.
Beyond its infectious rhythm, the anthem carries a meaningful purpose. All royalties from “Dai Dai” will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million by the end of the tournament.
The fund seeks to provide children worldwide with access to quality education and football opportunities.
Shakira has pledged to donate her personal royalties to the cause, while Sony Music has committed to matching the first $250,000 raised with an additional donation.
This marks Shakira’s triumphant return to the World Cup stage, following her unforgettable hits “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” for the 2010 tournament in South Africa and “La La La” for the 2014 edition in Brazil.
For Nigeria, the collaboration holds special significance as Burna Boy becomes only the second Nigerian artist to feature on an official World Cup song, after Davido’s appearance on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” in 2022.
Adding to the excitement, Nigerian star Rema is set to headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12.
Shakira will co-headline the first-ever halftime show at the tournament final on July 19, bringing together global artists at the intersection of sport, culture, and purpose.
“Dai Dai” joins other tracks already released from the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album, including “Lighter,” “Por Ella,” “Echo,” and “Illuminate.”
More singles are expected in the coming weeks as anticipation for the tournament, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, continues to build.
