Nollywood actor Ray Emodi has shared his decision to stop acting in films and focus solely on his music career.
The actor explained the news on Instagram, explaining that fans often ask about his absence from the screen.
Emodi reflected on his years in the film industry, recalling how some roles required working in unsafe environments, including locations where gunshots could be heard nearby.
He described leaving acting as a choice with personal consequences, noting that his family does not fully support the move due to strict expectations and their reputation.
The actor also addressed public misunderstandings about props used in his music-related scenes, clarifying that certain items were only for acting purposes and not real.
He said: “I’ve stopped acting films. I quit. I get this question a lot. People in comments, people that I meet, they ask me: ‘Your films, your films.’ I shot a film in a town that I won’t mention, but we were literally hearing gunshots… a situation where something was going on in a town next to our town in West Michigan. My family doesn’t support this… I respect that decision, and I won’t do anything that would bring any stain to the name.
“You don’t see me with backloads. The backy is not full of Loud. It’s a prop. I’m acting in the music. I’ve had some of the best experiences of my life on sets… it’s not easy to say no when they call your phone to come back on set, but I had to stop saying yes. I love music, man. I’ve always loved music, and I make good music. I love every single Nollywood fan… I’m not leaving you. I’m just going to make music for the dance floor.”
