Wizkid has earned a new Platinum certification in France, marking another international milestone for the Nigerian music star and reinforcing the global rise of Afrobeats.
According to data released by Syndicat National de l’Édition Phonographique (SNEP), the French music certification authority, the record surpassed the sales and streaming threshold required for Platinum status in the country. The certification places the award-winning singer among a growing list of African artists achieving significant commercial success across Europe.
Music industry observers say the development further highlights Wizkid’s sustained influence in the international music scene and the expanding global appetite for Afrobeats. A Paris-based music analyst noted that the achievement reflects “how African pop music has evolved from a niche export to a dominant cultural force in major music markets.”
Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, has consistently charted across Europe and North America over the past decade, collaborating with global acts and headlining major venues. His rise accelerated following international hits and high-profile collaborations that introduced Afrobeats to wider audiences.
Fans and industry figures have also linked the new milestone to the enduring influence of Nigeria’s so-called “Big 3” — Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido — who are widely credited with pushing the genre onto the global stage.
Commenting on Wizkid’s latest achievement, a Lagos-based music promoter said, “This is another reminder that Afrobeats is not slowing down. Every new certification in markets like France proves the sound has become a permanent part of global pop culture.”
Wizkid has previously earned multiple international recognitions, including chart success in the United States and the United Kingdom, with his projects and collaborations continuing to dominate streaming platforms worldwide. Industry analysts say the latest French Platinum certification further strengthens his position as one of Africa’s most commercially successful and influential music exports.
