CHAFHEIN hosts medical outreach in Jahi Community, Abuja
The youth-led non-profit organization, Connected Hands for Family Health Empowerment Initiative, (CHAFHEIN), hosted its medical outreach to women in the Jahi community of the federal capital territory, Abuja.
The initiative is to serve mothers in underserved communities, especially those with basic interventions in health, nutrition, and education.
However, the purpose of this year’s outreach program is to drive the anti-malaria campaign and provide 2000 mothers with basic nutrition, education, and health intervention; while it was held at the primary health care centre in Jahi.
The outreach had over 50 women in attendance who were given free malaria tests, sensitization, and evaluation.
Our correspondent gathered that any women who tested positive for the malaria parasite were given free malaria medication; all the women were also given free-treated mosquito nets so as to curb the spread of mosquitoes in their households.
Furthermore, one of the organizers of this campaign told our reporter that the campaign will extend to four other states in Nigeria. Niger, Nasarawa, Kebbi, and Sokoto. So as to eradicate malaria and other harmful diseases that might affect mothers and children.
The organizer told our reporter that CHAFHEN has been promoting the well-being of women, babies, and girl children, by providing them with health services, health education, and resources in underserved communities around the country; while also providing sexual reproductive health and rightful information to adolescents girls, just to curb the menace of atrocities that come with it.
