Chief Okoya once sold plantain before arriving at billionaire

One of the sons of Chief Razak Okoya, the chairman of Eleganza Group and a renowned industrialist, Raheem Subomi Okoya, has revealed that his father once hawked plantain before becoming a billionaire.

Raheem, who is a music artist, disclosed this while appearing as a guest on the latest edition of the popular show Curiosity Made Me Ask.

According to him, contrary to the widespread belief that Chief Okoya started off as a billionaire, he was once a hawker on the streets of Nigeria.

He said, “He started somewhere. Everybody started somewhere. He was a hawker. He used to sell plantain on the road. That’s actually where he started from. He used to sell on the streets of Naija. The guy don hustle.”

Speaking on his father’s determination and vision, Raheem noted that only a few people have the ability to conceptualise and execute ideas successfully.

“You know, you see that man, he is like a visionary. It is only a few people that can envision something and execute it. To do something, you’re gonna fuck up, but it is about how you bounce back. The resilience, a lot of people don’t have it. Even the initial idea to think of such a thing is not easy. People are small-minded. They doubt themselves. All these things play a role.”
