Tech firm donates N25m automated cinema to Lagos orphanage

Olayinka Odejayi and Kehinde Awoyinfa (Co-founders Triangle); Air Vice Marshal Anthony Okpere (Lions Club); Pharm. (Mrs) Toyin Oke-Osayintolu (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development); Mr Akin Oyebode (Honorable Commissioner of Finance Ekiti State); Mr Mobolaji Abubakar Ogundele (Honorable Commissioner of Youth and Social Development); Mrs Ikomu (Lions Club) and Kingsley Duru, during the opening of the home cinema at Lions Orphanage, Lekki, Lagos.

A Technology Solutions Provider, the Triangle Nigeria, on Tuesday donated an automated state-of-the-art Cinema worth N25 million to the Lions Motherless Babies Home at Lekki.

The Co-Founder, Triangle, Mr Olayinka Odejayi handed over of the cinema to the management of the Orphanage in Lekki, Lagos.
Odejayi said that the donation was to commemorate the company’s 5th anniversary and was also part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Odejayi, who is also the Triangle’s Director of design, said that the setting up of the cinema was a way of giving back to the society.

He said that the automated cinema would be maintained by the company with Internet and DSTV subscriptions for one year.

Odejayi said: “This is our own way of giving to the orphanage that which we give to high-profile people, because naturally these orphans cannot have access to these things.
“It will benefit the children because it will change the way they play. When we came to the Orphanage, we found out that they do not have a place to watch television or to entertain themselves.

“It is supposed to be for two purposes; first, to entertain and second, educational viewing and access to educational content.

“The agreement is to run it for a year and see how it goes. So, we have paid internet and DSTV subscription for one year and the plan is that we will come in monthly to maintain the cinema,’’ the co-founder said.
According to him, at the end of the year, the company will come in to sit with the management to review the agreement.

The Commissioner of Youths and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogundele, said that he had to come for the handing-over ceremony because of the laudable and encouraging project embarked on by Triangle.

“Triangle has done something incredible that they may not be aware of.

“It is said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step, you have not taken a step you have taken a giant stride. You have broken the glass ceiling you have taken your contribution to the next level.

“You should be encouraged which is why I decided to come because it is not just a cinema but a social inclusion, which is what this current administration is talking g about in its T.H.E.M.E.S + agenda. The plus is the gender equality and social development inclusion.

“This is the social inclusion and I am hoping that this will trigger a lot of people and a lot of homes,” Ogundele said.

He called on the management of the orphanage to ensure adequate sustenance and maintenance of the facility being donated.

While calling for public/private partnership, the commissioner appreciated the Triangle for the innovative gesture.

The Commissioner of Finance, Ekiti State, Mr Akin Oyebode, said that the gesture was laudable, adding that it was necessary to sustain the Cinema at the orphanage.

Also speaking at the occasion, AVM Anthony Okpere rtd., Representative of the Lions Club, while giving a brief history of its involvement in the orphanage, requested that the home should be named after the Lions Club.

Okpere appreciated the Triangle, saying it was the first time in 33 years that the home was experiencing something so significant.
He said that it was something that would impact lives of the kids, adding that aside from watching cartoons, they would learn a lot.

According to him, what Triangle has done now is a way of broadening the horizon of the kids.

The Triangle is a technology company that leverages technology to change the way people live, work and play.
