Police authorities in Kano State have arrested a housewife accused of allegedly setting her husband and his second wife on fire during a domestic dispute, an incident that has sparked outrage and renewed conversations around rising cases of domestic violence and family-related crimes.
According to police sources, the suspect allegedly attacked the couple at their residence following a disagreement believed to be linked to marital tensions within the household. The victims reportedly sustained severe burn injuries and were rushed to a medical facility for treatment, while the suspect was later apprehended by officers of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
Authorities in Kano said the matter remains under active investigation and that the suspect could face serious criminal charges if found culpable.
Meanwhile, in Lagos State, police are separately investigating multiple domestic violence and assault incidents reported across different parts of the state. Law enforcement officials say growing cases involving family disputes, spousal abuse, and violent altercations have become a major concern requiring stronger public awareness and early conflict intervention.
Security agencies have urged couples and families experiencing marital or domestic disputes to seek mediation, counseling, or legal support rather than resorting to violence. Community leaders and rights advocates have also called for increased education on conflict resolution and mental health support within households.
