Anambra’s Onyiyechi takes the crown as Miss Universe Nigeria 2025

Onyinyechi Basil, a candidate from Anambra State finally emerge winner of the Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 beauty pageant.
The grand finale was held on Saturday at the Convention Center of Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson as hosts.
Out of the 22 contestants presented on August 26, the pageant narrowed down to the top ten and eventually the final five. The finalists were Miss Ogun, Miss Lagos, Miss Akwa Ibom, Miss Anambra, and Miss Bayelsa.
Basil impressed the judges across all segments—including swimwear, traditional costume, evening wear, and the question-and-answer session—before being crowned winner in the third edition of the competition. She succeeds Chidimma Adetshina, the outgoing titleholder.
Damilola Bolarinde of Lagos was named first runner-up, while Fortune Kurobo of Bayelsa and Irene Ikediashi of Ogun finished as second and third runners-up respectively. Miss Akwa Ibom, Idah Eno, was crowned Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025.
The new queen, Basil will represent Nigeria at the 74th Miss Universe pageant scheduled for November 20 in Bangkok, Thailand. She will also receive a cash prize, material gifts, brand endorsements, training opportunities, and paid appearances.
