A former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Friday met with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Youssouf, to discuss key regional developments and other issues of continental interest.
According to a statement by the African Union, the meeting also focused on peace, dialogue and stability across the continent.
Youssouf commended Obasanjo’s continued engagement in continental affairs and his efforts to promote peace and stability across Africa.
The statement said, “The Chairperson commended President Obasanjo’s continued engagement in support of peace, dialogue and stability across the continent.”
Obasanjo, a former Nigerian president, currently serves as an AU High Representative. He was first appointed to the role in August 2021 and was later reappointed to continue his peace and mediation efforts in the region.
The statement further revealed that the two leaders “exchanged views on key regional developments and other issues of continental interest.”
