Britain Appoints First Female Spy Chief, Blaise Metreweli

Britain’s foreign intelligence service, MI6, is going to be led by a female for the first time in its history, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced.

A woman, Blaise Metreweli, is about to take charge of the position of Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service in the fall.

She presently heads the service’s technology and innovation teams, a role immortalized as “Q” in the James Bond films.

8 years ago, “Q” was revealed to be a woman, but Blaise was not named at the time.

Blaise Metreweli, an Oxford University graduate, previously held senior positions in both the domestic and foreign intelligence services.

Describing the appointment as historic, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer vouched for Blaise to keep delivering exemplary leadership to defend the UK and its people.

“I know Blaise will continue to provide the excellent leadership needed to defend our county and keep our people safe,” he said via a press statement.

Reacting, Blaise Metreweli revealed that she is proud and honoured to be deemed worthy of the role.
