The Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is pleased to announce the 2026 edition of the Delta State SDGs Summer Camp, scheduled to hold from 10th – 15th August 2026, Asaba.
With the theme “STEP UP: Advancing the M.O.R.E. Agenda Through Child-Centred Sustainable Development,” this year’s Summer Camp will place a special emphasis on inclusion, ensuring that children with special needs learn, participate, and thrive alongside their peers in an environment that celebrates diversity, dignity, and equal opportunity.
The 2026 edition is held in honour of Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, First Lady of Delta State, in recognition of her outstanding commitment to inclusive development and her unwavering advocacy for the welfare, empowerment, and social inclusion of children with special needs and other vulnerable groups across Delta State.
By placing inclusivity at the heart of this year’s programme, the Summer Camp reflects Her Excellency’s enduring vision of a society where every child regardless of ability is valued, supported, and empowered to realise their full potential. It also reinforces the guiding principle of the Sustainable Development Goals: Leaving No One Behind.
Speaking ahead of the programme, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Lady Diana Ereyitomi Eyo-Enoette, described the Summer Camp as a strategic investment in the future of Delta State.
“The SDGs Summer Camp is more than a holiday programme; it is a platform for nurturing responsible citizens, compassionate leaders, and innovative thinkers. This year’s edition is particularly meaningful as it celebrates the values of inclusion and honours a First Lady whose compassion and leadership continue to inspire hope and create opportunities for children who deserve to be seen, supported, and empowered.”
The week-long programme will bring together children from across Delta State for an immersive learning experience featuring leadership development, environmental sustainability, innovation, entrepreneurship, mental wellbeing, civic responsibility, STEM education, creativity, cultural exchange, sports, and practical Sustainable Development Goals learning.
The programme aligns with Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda and contributes to the achievement of SDGs 3, 4, 10, 16, and 17, demonstrating Delta State’s continued commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future.
Parents, schools, development partners, corporate organisations, civil society organisations, volunteers, and members of the media are invited to support this flagship initiative as Delta State prepares to raise another generation of young leaders committed to sustainable development.
