The Lagos State Government has announced a series of temporary road closures on Lagos Island beginning Monday morning to accommodate activities for the annual Lagos Fanti Carnival.
According to the announcement, the traffic restrictions are necessary to ensure the smooth conduct of the carnival, which is a major cultural event celebrating the heritage of Afro-Brazilian and Lagos Island communities. The closures are expected to affect several key routes within the island, including King George V Road, Onikan Roundabout, and portions of the Outer Marina.
Motorists and commuters have been advised to plan their routes in advance and make use of alternative roads to avoid unnecessary delays. Traffic management personnel will be deployed across strategic points to help direct vehicles, maintain order, and minimize congestion during the period of the closures.
