Representatives of the Itsekiri and Ijaw ethnic nationalities have agreed to a rotational arrangement for the proposed Warri Federal Constituency II House of Representatives seat.
The agreement was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja, following the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the ongoing dispute over the INEC ward delineation exercise in Warri Federal Constituency.
Under the resolution, both ethnic groups agreed that the proposed federal constituency seat, if approved through the necessary constitutional process, would rotate between the Itsekiri and Ijaw nationalities to promote inclusiveness, equity, and peaceful coexistence.
The development is being viewed as a significant step towards easing tensions surrounding the controversial ward delineation exercise in Warri Federal Constituency. The agreement followed high-level engagements involving representatives of the Itsekiri, Ijaw and Urhobo ethnic groups, as well as Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
