Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has congratulated former Governor of the state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, on his appointment as Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
Governor Lawal described Yari’s appointment as a good omen for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a strategic decision capable of strengthening President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027.
In a statement, Lawal expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for entrusting the responsibility to one of Zamfara’s prominent political leaders, describing the appointment as a moment of pride for the people of the state.
According to the governor, Yari’s emergence will boost the morale of APC members across Zamfara and further strengthen their commitment to the party’s programmes, objectives and electoral ambitions.
Lawal said Yari’s extensive political experience, leadership capacity and organisational skills would be valuable in coordinating the presidential campaign and mobilising support for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket.
He expressed confidence that under Yari’s leadership, the campaign council would be well positioned to engage voters, communicate the achievements and agenda of the Tinubu administration and galvanise support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The governor also congratulated former Zamfara Governors Ahmed Sani Yarima, Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi and Bello Matawalle on their appointments to key positions within the Presidential Campaign Council.
Lawal said their wealth of political experience and knowledge of Zamfara and the wider political landscape would contribute significantly to the success of the campaign.
He urged all APC stakeholders to close ranks and work collectively towards securing President Tinubu’s re-election, stressing that the involvement of experienced political leaders such as Yari, Yarima, Shinkafi and Matawalle would further strengthen the party’s campaign machinery.
The governor said the appointments demonstrated the importance attached to Zamfara and its political leaders within the APC’s national structure, while expressing optimism that the state would play a significant role in the party’s 2027 presidential campaign.
He wished Senator Yari and other members of the campaign council success as they commence preparations for the 2027 election.
