The third edition of the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon will hold on Saturday, November 14, 2026, with organisers expecting another strong turnout of local and international runners for the 21-kilometre race.

Organised by Nilayo Sports Management Limited, the event has grown since its inaugural edition in 2024, attracting elite athletes, recreational runners, fitness enthusiasts and corporate teams.

Registration opened on Friday, September 18, with interested participants able to register online or physically at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja.

The organisers have urged prospective runners to register early to allow sufficient time for training and preparation ahead of the race.

The event is sponsored by PremiumTrust Bank in partnership with Nilayo Sports Management Limited, which is responsible for organising the competition.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Yetunde Olopade, said the organisers were working to improve the experience for athletes and spectators at this year’s edition.

She said plans included improved athlete services, better route management, medical support, security arrangements and entertainment for spectators along the course.

According to Olopade, the organisers are also placing greater emphasis on athlete welfare and creating a more engaging experience for families and other spectators expected to attend the event.

Beyond the competition, the half marathon is expected to provide a platform for promoting physical fitness, healthy living and sports tourism in the Federal Capital Territory.

The race route, which passes through some of Abuja’s prominent landmarks and scenic areas, is also expected to showcase the city’s attractions to visiting athletes and spectators.

The event is equally significant for Nigerian athletics, offering local long-distance runners an opportunity to compete alongside international athletes and test themselves against a wider field of competitors.

Participation by elite runners could also provide valuable experience for Nigerian athletes preparing for continental and international competitions.
