The Final Draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™ will take place on Friday, 11 December 2026, at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, FIFA has announced.
The landmark event will bring together representatives of qualified nations, teams still competing for places, local authorities, stakeholders, commercial partners and members of the media as preparations gather pace for the first Women’s World Cup to be staged in South America.
The draw will determine the groups and competitive pathways for the 32 participating nations, giving teams a clearer picture of their route to the title when the tournament kicks off in Brazil.
FIFA said the choice of MAM Rio was designed to celebrate Brazil’s renowned futebol arte tradition, which blends football with creativity, imagination and artistic expression. The modernist venue, overlooking Guanabara Bay and with Sugarloaf Mountain providing a spectacular backdrop, will provide the setting for the highly anticipated event.
“Football has often been described as a universal language. In Brazil, it’s also an art form,” said FIFA Chief Football Officer Jill Ellis during a visit to the museum.
“Every pass can become a brushstroke, every movement a moment of inspiration and every goal a masterpiece. The FIFA Women’s World Cup showcases the very best players in the world, and there’s no better place to begin drawing their paths through the tournament in Brazil than a venue that celebrates creativity and human expression.”
More than 1,000 guests are expected to attend the Final Draw, including delegations from qualified teams and nations participating in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Play-Off Tournament in February 2027.
Aline Pellegrino, Executive Director of Legacy & Stakeholder Affairs at the Local FIFA Subsidiary in Brazil, said staging the draw at MAM Rio would provide a fitting celebration of the country’s football identity.
“Hosting the final draw at MAM Rio is a powerful way to celebrate our futebol arte identity,” Pellegrino said.
Following the draw, FIFA will publish an updated tournament schedule, with group-stage fixtures allocated to the eight Host Cities and kick-off times confirmed.
The 2027 tournament will feature 32 teams playing 64 matches across eight Host Cities. FIFA expects the competition to become the most-attended edition of the Women’s World Cup, with more than 800,000 people already registering interest in tickets and over 95,000 expressing interest in volunteering.
The tournament will mark a historic first as the FIFA Women’s World Cup heads to South America.
